Monserrate is 3,190 m above sea level. This is one of the peaks in the mountain range flanking the city to the east. It is easily recognizable by the church crowning its top, called The Sanctuary of Monserrate. This is a place of pilgrimage because inside there is a magnificent statue of Christ called "El Señor Caído de Monserrate".
The Sanctuary can be reached by a funicular railway and a cable car.
The city center preserves all the history, a good part of the government buildings, and Bogota’s best cultural attractions: colonial architecture, museums, historic monuments, libraries and archives.
The Zipaquira Salt Catholic Cathedral is considered the first wonder of Colombia, if you are in Bogota, you must not miss this architectural wonder. The museum, a modern building situated on the corner of Carrera 6 and Calle 16, houses a collection of more than 36,000 pieces of gold work, representing the myths and beliefs of the mayor pre-Columbian cultures in Colombia.

National Capitol is a building on Bolivar Square in central Bogotá, the construction of which began in 1876, by order of president Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera, and was not concluded until 1926. It houses both houses of the Congress of Colombia. It was designed and started its construction by Thomas Reed.
